Have you been wondering when the carrots will be ready? We have!
We planted our first carrots on January 20th before the February Deep Freeze of 2021. Thankfully, they had not germinated yet and poked their tiny heads out into the frigid air which would certainly have killed them.
Since then, they had to wait for the soil to warm up a bit causing them to sprout and pop through.
The variety of carrots we grow is a hybrid called Napoli. They do great in both cold and warm weather. At summer’s peak when we receive the most hours of sunlight each day, Napoli carrots normally take 58 days from planting to harvest. These carrots have been in the ground S-L-O-W-L-Y growing for 125 days!
So I pulled some yesterday to check their progress. Sadly, they are still not quite ready. But they will be soon! Maybe 1-2 more weeks?
And after that, there will be plenty of carrots to go around. We have been planting more almost every week so there will be a continual harvest.
Please keep checking the store. We’ll add stock as soon as they’re all grown up and ready for you to eat!
