- Good source of calcium, chromium, magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, vitamin B2 (riboflavin), and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine).
The beta-carotene and vitamin C found in romaine help prevent the oxidation of cholesterol and in turn prevents the build-up of plaque in the artery walls. The folate found in romaine helps convert homocysteine (a common amino acid) into a harmless substance and reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.
